I wish we could give Vermejo 10 stars instead of 5. Went as a family group celebrating a 60th birthday with a 2 month old. We were blown away by everything and everyone. The views were spectacular, the food outstanding but what makes this place truly special are the people who work there - from front desk, food and beverage, guides etc.. Big shout out to Ryland and Orion who made our lakeside cookout and private dinner so special ( we're still talking about the food). Also thank you to Elle and Wes who kept our drinks full and our firepit going. The guides who worked with us were so knowledgeable and fun. Big thank yous to Joe and Craig (aka Dale) for the fun rides and bison sightings, Jason and PJ for the fishing and Michael and Brian for shotgun fun. Vermejo is the best place for a family gathering where we could enjoy one another's company rather than our cell phones. 3 days was too short - we will definitely be back!

I have been going to Vermejo Park for more than 25 years and seen mostly positive changes over the years. I will say the food, service, and accommodations are amazing and have only gotten better with time.||My issue has become with the maintenance of the lakes. Well, at least some of the lakes. The ranch does a great job managing three large lakes: Adams, Bartlett, and Munn. They are clean and well-stocked with 2-6+ pound rainbow trout. The ranch has also done well to re-establish native cutthroat to the creeks which are fun to catch. ||But few people realize the ranch used to maintain numerous other lakes like the Upper and Lower Underwood Lakes, No.1 and No. 2 lakes, and Mary's lake WAY back in the day. These lakes are cloudy, over-grown, and no longer routinely stocked. And now they turned one of the best lakes, Bernal, into a private lake that is no longer routinely available to all guests. Shameful if you ask me.||I am concerned that at this rate, the ranch will only have 2-3 lakes to fish on in a few years. This is probably not a big deal for most people only fishing for a day or two. But for guests like myself who fish for multiple days over many seasons, it is incredibly disappointing.

I went to Vermejo with friends for an elk archery hunt. We had the time of our lives. What an experience. The beauty of the ranch, the wildlife, the exceptional service, the food, the accommodations. It's hard to describe! I will be going back as long as I am able!

First I need to say I have been coming to Vermejo for over 25 years. I have been in all the outlying houses as well as the Turner House (previously called Casa Minor) and have enjoyed all the places I stayed. The food is excellent and the staff is knowledgeable and professional. Over the years the activities and experiences have grown and there really is something for everyone. I have spent much of my time there fly fishing the lakes and streams and the scenery and fishing are as good as anywhere in the US including some of our National Parks. The thing I enjoy the most is the access to almost 600,000 acres of land filled with all types of animals including raptors, buffalo, elk, deer and bear. I know some may see the price and be concerned but I have compared their prices to similar adventure resorts in Colorado, New Mexico and Montana and they are right in line with those and on a much bigger scale. Give it a try and you will understand why its worth the cost!

Top notch place from beginning to end they really know how to take care of people and hunting couldn’t be better. It was like an all inclusive Ritz Carlton (minus the alcohol) with incredible hunting and experiences. What more could you ask for?

In a world that seems self-absorbed and youth that seem both uneducated and poorly behaved, you cross into another time at Vermejo. Starting with the staff they are mostly a young and accomplished group of well spoken, well educated, and dedicated to both reflecting on what they know, and want to know, about the nature around them, and sharing that in an enthusiastic and professional manner. ||You cannot wrap your mind around 560,000 acres but as you drive for 90 minutes and ask what is still in the reserve, and they point to a mountain many miles away, you get an idea. Ted Turner is what billionaires should be. We have ego focused guys buying $500 million dollar boats and dozens of fancy homes but Ted mattered and will leave a lasting and important legacy for all to enjoy. This property is a gift to nature, and anyone who wished to be part of the progress to return this land and others to a pre-logging and mining natural setting. It does not matter what it costs, whomever goes is doing a tiny part to help. ||The service, the food, the rooms and the things to do are all excellent. We went with our grown kids and spouses and to see them just drop life to be outside morning to night was ideal. We tried to keep up but no matter, everyone came back together for events and meals and the days were all full. Sad to leave, eager to return. A must do for anyone who is tired of wasting money with crowds of similarly disoriented and stressed humans. Life is good at Vermejo

Vermejo is amazing. The wildlife-rich environment is spectacular and accessible. The food is very good and the accommodations are beautiful. Passionate, cordial and helpful staff. Pricey, but in addition to creature comforts, you are paying to help conserve a half million acres of unspoiled wilderness for future generations. We will return!

The 550,000 acre Vermejo Ranch is a spectacular venue. The scenery on the property is gorgeous, with the snow-capped Sangre de Cristo mountain range serving as a backdrop for the beautiful vista we enjoyed sitting on the porch enjoying a glass of wine (or one of Wes's fabulous cocktails). We stayed in the huge Vermejo Suite (which was originally Ted Turner's and the original founder's bedroom) in the Casa Grande building, which is a beautiful, historic work of art. And where else can you observe large herds of bison foraging on their native grazing land. In the short period of time we were there, we enjoyed a bison expedition, a jaw dropping "rim excursion" with Palmer, who also guided me while I caught 6-7 Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout (nearly endangered), a great "wobble deck" trap shooting experience with Aiden, massages, and e-biking (stunning scenery). We saw bear, elk, deer, bison, eagles, and other wildlife native to New Mexico. And there were several other fisherman pulling big rainbow and brown trout from the ranch's many lakes. The food was delicious, and included in the room rate. Definitely we are coming back, perhaps to enjoy another a different season.
